In this Cloud Wars Minute, Bob Evans shares how SAP is channeling Benjamin Button. The company is approaching its 51st birthday but is seemingly getting younger as it introduces new innovative products and focuses on cultivating experiences.
Highlights
00:38 — Bob recently attended an SAP event at the company’s New York City headquarters. He notes that as SAP gets older — the company is about to celebrate its 51st birthday — the company is beginning to act much younger, taking on a more youthful way of operating and in its product creation.
01:39 — The point of this SAP event was to showcase SAP’s “experience centers” which enable customers to come in and imagine the new settings in which a customer-centric digital business could work.
02:03 — Andre Bechtold, Senior VP of Solution and Innovation Experience, SAP, commented at the event that SAP wants to “make innovation tangible” and believes the experience centers will help enforce that. A focus for SAP is helping customers find ways to create innovative products and monetize them.
03:10 — Bob says he “tips his hat” to SAP for doing this. He notes that innovations like these are what every company should be doing today. The notion that SAP is “milking its existing, old-fashioned customers as they move to the cloud is totally baseless,” he concludes.
