In episode 86 of the Cloud Wars Horizon Minute, Tom Smith explains how an expanded partnership between Kyndryl and Nokia will deliver advanced wireless networking capabilities to customers.

Highlights

00:46 — Kyndryl, the large IT infrastructure service provider, is expanding its relationship with Nokia to develop and deliver LTE and 5G private wireless networking capabilities to customers.

01:06 — The news comes on the heels of last week’s announcement from the IBM spinoff of strong financial results last week Kyndryl said for its third quarter ended Dec. 31, revenues were $4.3 billion (a decline). It reported a pre-tax loss of $138 million and a net loss of $106 million. But revenue and earnings both were significantly better than analysts’ estimates, and the company raised its revenue outlook for its fiscal year ending in just about six weeks, so that’s a bullish sign.

01:50 —  Kyndryl and Nokia are working together to help IT, Operations Tech, and business leaders to digitally transform while capitalizing on network and edge computing.

02:31 — Kydrndyl says it’s increasing resources and expert practitioners to deliver and support advanced LTE and 5G private wireless networking across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, energy, and more. These experts have extensive training in Nokia products. Nokia and Kyndryl have completed the implementation of a private wireless network with edge computing for Dow Chemical.

02:55 — The two companies are also launching a partner innovation lab with Palo Alto Networks to bring advanced, secure wireless connectivity to industrial enterprises.  Through collaboration, a zero trust model for industrial networking is enabled using tools and resources from the three companies.

03:12 — At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 later this month, Kyndryl and Nokia will unveil new device management services showcasing Kyndryl’s auto-provisioning software leveraging Nokia’s customizable enterprise mobile capabilities on Nokia ruggedized devices.
