This AI Ecosystem Report, featuring supply chain and procurement expert Joanna Martinez, an Acceleration Economy practitioner analyst, provides insight into supply chain professional certifications and their value in supply chain careers.

Highlights

00:47 — Professional events and LinkedIn are great places to discover a long list of initials after people’s names — that is, professional designations they’ve achieved in their field. Unfortunately, some supply chain certification programs are woefully behind the times. One research foundation found that just 18% of certifications issued through career and tech education programs are actually sought by employers.

Ask Cloud Wars AI Agent about this analysis

01:25 — There was a time when supply chain professionals spent a lot of time doing calculations: computing inventory levels, creating demand plans, and analyzing lead times to figure out how to deal with disruptions. But today, AI is doing that for us; the “machine” is cranking out answers and we don’t have to do that anymore.

01:59 — This means that some certifications that focus very heavily on these technical aspects of supply chains have been taken over by AI and are just not worth our efforts anymore. So where should we spend our time? Two ideas: acquire and hone leadership skills because leaders who embrace transformation are needed at every level. We also need certifications in whatever technologies our companies have chosen to use so we can take the utmost advantage of that technology. We have a responsibility to understand how the certifications we’re pursuing will add value and result in a real payback.
