Last year, Celonis launched its Process Intelligence Graph, a significant, system-agnostic tool that extracts and standardizes process data from any data source. Now, the company has built on the foundations of this process intelligence with AgentC, a suite of new solutions for AI agent development.
This week we’re on location at Celosphere, Celonis’s annual user conference in Munich, Germany. On day one of the event, the AgentC announcement was an important part of the keynote address, delivered by Alex Rinke, co-CEO and co-founder of Celonis, and Divya Krishnan, Vice President of Product Marketing at Celonis. So, what can we expect from Celonis’s latest product launch?
A New Approach to Agent Building
Celonis AgentC is the company’s solution to GenAI agent development and includes a suite of AI agent tools, integrations, and partnership agreements.
In addition to providing users with the tools to build AI agents in many leading platforms, it enables them to access AI agents pre-built by Celonis partners. However, the foundational layer powering each agent is the process intelligence data unique to every organization. Rinke used ChatGPT to demonstrate how generic outputs can’t be used to create highly tailored process agents.
Ultimately, it provides the context for specific recommendations on optimizing processes and identifying improvement opportunities. This gap exists because crucial, proprietary data is often missing — and that’s the key differentiator for Celonis.
“There’s a clear gap between AI’s promise and what it’s delivering for enterprises. LLMs are impressive, but companies struggle to have them provide tangible business impact,” said Rinke. “Agents can automate workloads but they lack the business understanding to do it effectively.
“To close this gap, enterprise AI needs process intelligence — built with the process data and business context that only Celonis provides. AgentC ensures every agent our community creates is equipped with the business knowledge required to drive the right actions and outcomes.”
AgentC in Practice
With AgentC, customers can create agents to automate processes on a platform of their choice. Celonis boasts integrations with Microsoft Copilot Studio, IBM watsonx Orchestrate, and Amazon Bedrock Agents. Pre-built AI agents are available from Rollio and Hypatos, while Celonis’ leading consulting partners — Accenture, IBM Consulting, and EY — also provide customer support.
During the keynote, Rinke showed AgentC in action through its integration with Microsoft Copilot. He demonstrated how customers could build agents in Copilot leveraging process intelligence, connect to an LLM of their choice, and interact with the agent through common Microsoft apps.
Closing Thoughts
Celonis’ Process Intelligence Graph is a transformative innovation in its field. Since its launch, it has demonstrated substantial value. In the coming days, we will be highlighting some of its major customer successes. The AgentC announcement from Celonis not only emphasizes the diverse applications of process intelligence but also contextualizes these capabilities for the GenAI era.
Celonis has already introduced copilot features that have undoubtedly assisted its customers using the platform. Yet, with the launch of AgentC, Celonis is proving its significance in the wider AI landscape as a crucial enabler. It is capitalizing on the GenAI surge through integrations with leading AI service providers.
Celonis showcases its competitive edge by offering business-critical, proprietary data, essential for its success in the GenAI sector. As we’ve mentioned in Cloud Wars, the GenAI market is rapidly distinguishing between assistants and agents, and the competition in the agent space is intense. However, Celonis’ system-agnostic offerings, provide significant advantages to vendors eager to leverage the strengths of their platforms.
