While many organizations are adapting to the generative AI boom and quickly developing products to leverage the demand for AI-driven services, some companies already have the foundations in place to underpin a robust expansion. Automation Anywhere is in the latter category.

Firmly established as a leader in AI-powered Intelligent Automation, the company is well-positioned to provide its customers with generative AI integrations that not only bring great value but complement their existing product portfolio.

At Automation Anywhere Imagine 2023, the company’s flagship customer and partner event, Automation Anywhere unveiled its expanded generative AI-powered automation tools, adding greater speed and efficiency to its existing automation platform.

Automation Anywhere is on the Acceleration Economy Top 10 shortlist of AI/Hyperautomation Enablers.

Enhanced by Generative AI

Automation Anywhere revealed a series of new tools and enhancements to its existing Automation Success Platform: Automation AI, which incorporates Automation AI Models and Automation Anywhere’s proprietary AI models, as well as Automation AI Governance & Tools, a new set of tools that conduct governance.

“There’s been a lot of generative AI innovation happening in the market; so many different companies and different models popping up,” says Claudia Michon, Senior Vice President of Product and Solutions Marketing at Automation Anywhere, in a discussion with Acceleration Economy. “What we have been doing is trying to help our customers figure out how we can harness this technology that we know will move us forward but do that productively and securely.”

“Essentially, what we are building out is a series of generative automation AI models that have been developed on top of foundational models tuned with hundreds of millions of automations that had been running across our platform,” she continues. “We’re using that information and that knowledge to be able to deliver generative AI outputs that are going to be most accurate and supportive of the use cases our customers are running.”

Democratizing Process Automation

Automation Anywhere announced several innovations that will utilize generative AI to enable more users to develop automations and increase the speed and efficiency of the process.

Automation Anywhere Autopilot is a new addition to the company’s existing platform, enabling users to create end-to-end automations with generative AI automatically. Autopilot works across Process Discovery, CoE Manager, and Automation Copilot for Automators; it truncates the entire automation process. Now, instead of following each step consecutively, users can jump from process discovery to automation using natural language prompts.

Automation Anywhere’s Claudia Michon

Automation Co-Pilot for Automators was announced earlier this year and enables any user to create automations using natural language. This capability now has a series of added features centered on generative AI, including contextualized prompts for further automations and natural language automation, where users can create personalized automations based on their individual use cases. Both Autopilot and Automation Co-Pilot for Automators will be generally available in the first half of 2024.

Automation Anywhere’s Automation Co-Pilot for Business Users and Document Automation products are currently available and now include a series of enhancements. Automation Co-Pilot for Business Users is designed to bring automation to business applications. The latest updates enable employees to undertake full-cycle workflows without leaving the third-party platform they are working in.

Document Automation utilizes generative AI to enable users to understand, extract, and summarize data quickly. This functionality has expanded to semi-structured and unstructured document types with new use cases for supply chain contracts and logistics.

“Now Automation Co-Pilot can actually call on generative AI functionality to help users understand documentation, summarize documentation, and generate content for them,” says Michon.

Acceleration Economy practitioner analyst Scott Vaughan

These enhancements speak to the greatest potential benefit of Generative AI, namely producticity, says Acceleration Economy practitioner analyst Scott Vaughan. “Every organization is trying to figure out how to increase productivity. With the new Generative AI-powered offerings, Automation Anywhere allows business and tech leaders to work faster and more efficiently by combining automated, self-learning models, templates, and processes,” Vaughan says.

Committed to Responsible AI

Automation AI Governance & Tools is a new set of tools and best practices that will help organizations that don’t have significant data and AI teams in place to build automation using AI in a safe, governed manner. The tools constitute a comprehensive governance suite with:

  • Model Selection & Integrations: for secure management of generative AI models
  • Testing & Optimization: for secure AI testing
  • Prompt Templates: managed templates for simple enterprise-grade development
  • Data Privacy Controls: include data masking so no sensitive information leaves your secure ecosystem
  • Monitoring & Audit: integrated generative AI analytics and audit tools for simple privacy and performance monitoring

Partners Ecosystem Expansion

Automation Anywhere also announced that it will be expanding its partners ecosystem. This includes enhanced integrations with leading cloud vendors including Google Cloud and AWS.

The company is also enhancing support for the Pathfinder Community, its dedicated discussion forum, with a new generative AI community group, a generative AI skills booster series, and dedicated guidance on scaling your business with AI.

Closing Thoughts

The latest enhancements from Automation Anywhere usher in a new era in AI-powered automation while bringing an impressive range of generative AI capabilities and boosting its already formidable automation platform. The company is providing the guardrails that enable this technology to succeed within the boundaries of solid governance. With these new natural language features and integrated security tools, companies no longer need a team of data scientists to maximize the output and reach of automation in their organization.
