Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder Bob Evans. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud.

Highlights

01:26 — Oracle has opted to shoot the moon with a landmark transformation of the healthcare industry in a time when many companies are busy hunkering down.

01:58 — The company aims to create a national health record database to be used by individual patients anywhere in the world, and for public health policy to better assess shifting healthcare trends within the population.

02:21 — Oracle plans to integrate Cerner with its own technology, as well as fuse its horizontal and vertical applications.

02:58 — Cybersecurity poses one of the most difficult challenges for Oracle to tackle, locking down a massive network of sensitive health information with hundreds of millions of entry points. Oracle has tasked itself with earning the trust of millions of patients in an effort to get the national health database off the ground.

03:31 — The database aims to resolve the friction doctors and patients experience with current communication issues. Some Oracle studies say doctors can only offer a third of their time to patient care — the rest is spent on forms, notes, and data entry.
