With Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Microsoft has introduced new integration technology options that expand real-time integration to and from external applications in a secure and more flexible manner than in Dynamics AX. These options include OData Web Service and the Data Management Framework (DMF). This session will explore the benefits and challenges of the different integration options and the factors that can help you determine which technology is best suited for the task. The presentation will be technical in nature and include how to create and modify entities with sample integrations via the OData Entity Framework and will explain how to maximize throughput using web service integration to Dynamics 365.

The cost of storage and API calls in the Common Data Service and Dynamics 365 can be a concern for many organizations. The good news is there are ways to reduce your cost for storage and for integrations by leveraging Virtual Entities. In this session we’ll take a look at building a custom data provider that connects to Azure SQL and eliminates the need to push certain kinds of data out of your Azure hosted or on-prem databases and into the potentially more costly CDS storage for your Model Driven App to consume.

The content of this session is geared toward an audience with advanced-level knowledge of the subject area.

The decision to move your mission-critical business applications to the cloud is no longer IF but WHEN. Chances are you’re already successfully running applications in the cloud today. Cloud-based payroll, HR benefits, marketing automation and email are amongst the many available solutions that companies have been managing online for years. Historically companies hesitated to move business applications like GP, SL, NAV, AX and CRM to the cloud, but to stay competitive and drive business continuity, the time to migrate is now.

Regardless of your company size or industry, recent events have shown us how important moving to the cloud is for all businesses. As companies went to being fully remote for months, some found that their on-premises solutions could not accommodate a virtual work force and caused unnecessary problems with day-to-day operations. Real-time secure access to data, regular back up provisions, remote access for all users are just some of the cloud benefits.

In this session, learn best practices on how building an effective migration strategy and plan will support a successful move to the cloud and help maximize your business application investments.

Geared to experienced Workflow builders and Power Automate novices, this will teach Dynamics 365 users how to make the jump to Power Automate. Did you just say Power BI for GP Payroll?  Well certainly!  The Payroll table structure in Dynamics GP is unlike other modules, but that doesn’t prevent us from using Power BI to support and enhance your Payroll reporting capacity.  Perhaps you have a system that integrates employee and/or timesheet data into Dynamics GP, and you want to review for miscoding, thoroughness, and investigate or highlight any outlier situations or use cases.  Current methods of review rely on SmartLists, Edit Lists, and SSRS reports, but in this session you will learn a new, more visual way of reviewing payroll transactions in Dynamics GP with Power BI.  We will show you some of the possibilities and even show you the steps to create your own Power BI views for Dynamics GP and beyond as well as an introduction to other Power Platform tools.

A well thought out Power BI data model can make creating a well functioning report a breeze. Relationships form the core of any model, but what if the relationships you have won’t allow the calculations you want? Do you want dimension tables to filter each other? Should a fact table filter a dimension? By getting creative with your DAX measures, it is possible to do this and more, while still keeping the model functional.

This session will introduce and explain several DAX functions for manipulating relationships including CROSSFILTER, USERELATIONSHIP, and TREATAS.

Do you use the Inventory module in GP?  Then you should use HITB.  The HITB was designed to be your inventory subledger to the GL.  There are gaps in capturing all the data if you are currently using the Historical Stock Status report as subledger, but HITB captures it all.  The gaps will be exposed, the process defined, and you will be empowered to overcome the possible objections from the accounting team.
