In Episode 186 of My Metaverse Minute, Kieron explains an interesting story from the United Arab Emirates regarding law enforcement in the Metaverse.

This My Metaverse Minute is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s Data Modernization Digital Battleground, which takes place on October 27, 2022. The event features a roundtable of CXO practitioners who discuss, debate, and define cloud data strategies, followed by leading vendors answering four questions developed by our analysts on the why and how of their data modernization solutions. Highlights

00:43 — Dubai‘s Ajman police force announced that it will be offering services to Metaverse users. Users can connect with the police as digital avatars and communicate in Arabic, English, Russian, German, Chinese, French, and Spanish.

01:03 — This recent announcement will make police services more efficient and easier to access. However, for this to work, Dubai’s police force must consider two areas: anonymity and privacy.

01:21 — If avatars remain anonymous on the platform, they could lead to false complaints being made without any repercussions.

01:58 — Data privacy is still a work in progress within the Metaverse. Developers continue to work on ways to collect and secure user data, and it’s “too early” to offer law enforcement services in a virtual world comfortably.

02:46 — As long as data privacy and anonymity are securely covered in the development of police forces within the Metaverse, the idea could work.
