In the latest My Metaverse Minute, Episode 110, I dig deeper into Unilever’s latest press releases, which focus on governance and representation in the conglomerate brand collective’s Metaverse offerings, and why this is so groundbreaking.
Highlights
00:08 — In today’s episode, I’d like to talk to you about Unilever. Now, Unilever is well known as a brand of multiple verticals, and it works in many different industries and sectors and has many well-known products.
00:48 — The company has released more information about its Metaverse offerings and the focus of the latest press releases is governance.
01:02 — Unilever has promised to cover data privacy, safety, equity, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability with an in-house Web 3.0 Collective.
01:46 — This is fantastic because typically when we look at governance, we tend to look at it from the perspective of the technology companies themselves. We look at it from the perspective of the platforms that provide a space for brands and not the brand.
02:04 — Either that or we look at physical governance in the real world and how that might translate into the Metaverse. However, Unilever, with so many different industries and sectors incorporated into its business model, has a lot to lose.
02:28 — So perhaps we should be looking more towards brands, large conglomerates, and brand collectives that really have a lot invested across many different spaces to provide governance in multiple ways and on multiple layers.
