Diversity. It was a defining element of this year’s Cloud Wars Expo. There were diverse industries represented, diverse approaches to the most relevant business challenges, and diverse topics addressed by experts in the field.
However, for me, the most exciting aspect of diversity at the event was the attendees. This wasn’t a show solely for tech heads. This was for anyone who could influence the direction of the companies they represented. They could be a CDO, VP, or LOB Manager. It didn’t matter.
The topics covered and the approach were so forward-looking that it was new and exciting territory for anyone in attendance, regardless of position. This was evident in the lively debates and discussions during the short breaks between sessions. A new approach is a new approach regardless of who introduces it, and the individual with the knowledge to share is an expert by default.
I want to look at this through a Metaverse lens and give you my suggestions as to how various ranks in an organization can benefit from and adopt the technologies.
CIO/CTO
Adoption is and will continue to be a stumbling block for Metaverse technologies. The trouble is that asking to commit to partial or full immersion is a major leap forward for many users.
It is the job of the CXO/LOB to convince their organization, from the top down, that the investment is beneficial to everyone. Conduct company-wide training and education sessions. Start small with a pop-up space on an existing Metaverse platform. And get feedback.
Perhaps you could hold your next board meeting in a virtual space? However you approach it, you are still the segue between your company’s Metaverse success and organizational adoption.
VP/Director
Make it personal. If you want to understand how the Metaverse will impact your organization, you need to experiment. Sign up to some of the biggest platforms like Decentraland and The Sandbox and get a first-hand understanding of how they are being used.
Beyond this, examine the other use cases for Metaverse technologies. Explore the industrial Metaverse and how it might determine significant advances in your sector. And, of course, sign up for My Metaverse Minute.
With a better understanding of the Metaverse, you are better placed to accept new proposals and make your own recommendations.
DevSecOps
You and your colleagues are in a privileged position. Because the Metaverse will ultimately impact every area of business operations, you can explore some of the out-of-the-box ideas that will influence the ongoing security of your organization’s assets.
For example, while the Metaverse will pose a challenge for cybersecurity prevention, the concern is widespread and well known. So, the top Metaverse applications are being built by design to repel the most advanced threats. Migrating some of your organizational assets into this space could prove both functional and future-proof.
If you did not get to the event in person – or just missed certain sessions – then make sure to get your Cloud Wars Expo On-Demand Pass.
