In Episode 195 of My Metaverse Minute, Kieron shares that the Open Metaverse Alliance has officially launched. The alliance opened its membership to Web 3.0 builders and creators.
Highlights
00:23 — The aim of the alliance is to create an open Metaverse built on blockchain technology — the key being that it will make the Metaverse interoperable.
00:35 — The alliance is targeting its efforts primarily around the NFT space, as many of its members have a big foothold. The Open Metaverse Alliance aims to create an interoperable environment where standards are set that enable users to move avatars and NFTs from different spaces fluidly.
00:57 — The Open Metaverse Alliance differs from the Metaverse Standards Forum that was launched in June as it is extremely targeted. The Metaverse Standards Forum attempted to create a degree of interoperability but was not a “big bang approach” like the Open Metaverse Alliance is.
01:58 — The primary focus of the alliance is on NFTs and blockchain technology, as they are the components of the Metaverse that are already working. Kieron believes that creating an integral interoperability standard around working use cases is the only way forward.
