In Episode 118 of My Metaverse Minute, Kieron questions the ethics of populating Metaverse spaces with AI bots to make them seem more inviting to users and potential customers.

Highlights

00:08 — Inworld AI aims to create AI avatars to populate Metaverse spaces so they don’t look and feel so empty.

00:58 — Ethically, there’s already a lively discussion surrounding AI, data protection, and whether or not building relationships between humans and AI is a healthy endeavor.

01:43 — There’s also a risk that users simply don’t buy into bot AI avatars or, even worse, fail to see companies as credible. Is there a difference between falsely populated Metaverse spaces and Twitter accounts with thousands of bots for followers?

02:22 — Between the ethical and consumer arguments against the Metaverse’s new twist on essentially buying digital followers to earn credibility, the project raises a lot of issues, so Kieron wonders whether it will take off as presently constituted.
