Highlights

00:18 — This episode is brought to you by the Cloud Wars Expo. This in-person event will be held June 28th to 30th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

01:10 — Industrial robots are emerging as a powerful automation tool, especially in manufacturing and logistics.

01:32 — Industrial robots face a couple of challenges:

  1. Organizations have to build loading docks around the robot—it’s not able to just be dropped into any environment.
  2. Programming robots takes an extensive amount of time.

01:57 — A new generation of robots is emerging. For instance, Boston Dynamics introduced a robot called ‘Stretch,’ which is now commercially available. Running on eight hours of battery power, it’s able to perform in various environments, such as manufacturing and logistics, and perform a variety of tasks.

03:12 — As industrial robots evolve with vision and abilities to make AI-based decisions, they’re becoming a tool that users can implement to automate the workplace.

03:23 — While technical debt inhibits factories and habits, this new generation of robots is very flexible and adaptable, enabling organizations to create a new environment.
