The manufacturing industry often deals with operational challenges, such as shipping processes and reporting capabilities. In this Acceleration Case Study, learn how OMT-Veyhl, a furniture manufacturer, overcame several operational challenges by partnering with Innovia. By upgrading its ERP system, OMT-Veyhl eliminated shipping delays and reduced production labor costs by 30%.

Business Challenge – Finding a New ERP System

OMT-Veyhl produces adjustable furniture and parts for numerous OEM manufacturers. The company prides itself on providing a 99% on-time delivery rate for each one of its customers. However, consistently performing at such a high level isn’t easy. The team at OMT-Veyhl relies upon a fully-featured ERP system to ensure everything is manufactured on time without any setbacks.

Initially, the company used Microsoft Dynamics NAV with another partner, but they decided to change after meeting with Innovia Consulting. Innovia performed a fit analysis to gain a better idea of how to implement an effective ERP system.

  • After consulting with Innovia, the analysis identified areas of improvement:
    • Additional development training for internal team
    • Upgrade software for streamlined shipping process and reporting capabilities
    • Improve data accessiblity

It was evident that the internal team needed additional training while using Microsoft Dynamics to take care of day-to-day issues without relying on an external partner. The company only required consulting services to handle strategic concerns rather than trying to fix common issues.

Innovia’s fit analysis also found numerous issues with their software. For example, they needed to upgrade the shipping process, as the current process caused delays in shipping products. This often resulted in several challenges within the supply chain. The existing reporting capabilities also didn’t meet expectations, as OMT-Veyhl prides itself on making data-driven decisions. The company needed to view the best data in an easy-to-access format.

Choosing to upgrade its existing system to Business Central was key to staying ahead of the tech curve. They decided that partnering with Innovia would help them meet their long-term goals and equip them for further success.

Software Solution – Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

The project team at Innovia knew that they had to be in close communication throughout each implementation process. According to the project manager at Innovia, working with OMT-Veyhl was one of the easiest projects to implement due to the timing and communication.

Upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central involved reworking many customizations from the previous NAV installation. However, it didn’t work in Business Central or new features had replaced it. This upgrade was an excellent opportunity to reevaluate all of the previous modifications. It helped determine if the company still needed these features, most of which they didn’t.

The team at OMT-Veyhl also continued to use Lanham Associates for managing supply chain solutions. Innovia helped modernize reporting capabilities by implementing Power BI and Jet Reports. Innovia also became the cloud solutions provider while offering Microsoft Office licensing at a significantly discounted rate.

Final Results

OMT-Veyhl is now live with its brand new Business Central System. Because they took the extra time to train employees on using the new features, the transition process was relatively smooth.

The company no long experiences shipping delays. Now, they can operate much more efficiently. They have even reduced labor costs involving their products by 30%. It’s also possible for them to visit any production center and view orders due for that day. Meanwhile, they can also check out sales and see how many items ship out each day.

The entire project was finished well under budget due to Innovia completing much of the work and support by itself. In addition, OMT-Veyhl also saved money in the long term by training its users on how to use the new system’s different features.

Ultimately, working with Innovia was an excellent experience for OMT-Veyhl, as they were always available to offer support for any technical issues or any questions related to upgrades. Because of their investment and partnership with Innovia, OMT-Veyhl now runs much more smoothly.
