Business Challenge – Finding a Way to Process Shipments on Time

Clean Control is a company manufacturing disinfectant supplies through numerous brand names. It also supplies many of the top retailers, eCommerce sites, and janitorial services. Finding a way to meet growing demand and completing shipments on time was a top priority for Clean Control

One of the biggest challenges they faced was to complete shipments for specific customer demands while avoiding delays. The company has relied on Microsoft Dynamics NAV since 2011. However, they needed to make an upgrade to better meet the needs of their customers.

The high turnover rate at a partner company slowed down the user adoption rate for using this technology. While the initial goal was to eliminate the vast majority of manual processes, it couldn’t reach this objective. This was due to the inability to fully transition to a scanning and barcoding service throughout the company during the early days of using Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Clean Control needed to find a new partner to improve efficiency during the shipping process. Innovia Consulting made the initial list of potential companies. They were visible at various events highlighting their services. The team at Innovia Consulting provided training classes while also spending a lot of time in the user group community at events.

Innovia Consulting made a positive first impression. But, Clean Control decided to partner with another company. However, the partnership didn’t last long, so they chose to reach out to Innovia Consulting. They made this decision because of their strong reputation for training users. Additionally, they provide excellent customer support.

Software Solution – Innovia Consulting

One of the first challenges for Innovia Consulting was to establish a warehousing process. The employees at Clean Control needed to find a way to begin barcoding and scanning items to keep up with demand. Meanwhile it also had to allow other business areas to work more efficiently.

The team at Innovia recognized that the current system wasn’t working to meet their needs. So, they initially advised the company to temporarily go back to the old process to regroup before deploying new technology. Innovia’s willingness to provide strategic advice was essential in helping everyone find a better long-term solution to improve efficiency.

After a few bugs were worked out of the system, the new implementation of ERP technology for warehouse deployment went well. The experience of Innovia Consulting and the addition of a few add-ons from the Mobile Warehouse Management solution from Insight Works enabled Clean Control to have access to a system that can easily manage and process orders on time.

Now, the mixing and shipping department can make scans. They couldn’t perform this task under the previous system. Other departments are also scanning products. This makes everything run much more efficiently. Meeting customer deadlines also keeps everyone happy. Items appear in real-time without waiting for the end of the day to see the status of an item. This type of system is a significant game-changer in helping to boost efficiency for Clean Control.

The Results

One of the distinguishing factors from Innovia Consulting is that they aren’t afraid to ask questions or challenge the existing process. This mindset makes it possible to make significant improvements on existing technology without staying satisfied with the status quo. For example, the shipping team was initially using 11 zeros as a lot number for finished goods. This was due to the recommendations of their previous partner.

The main reason for doing this task was because the previous partner said that it was a requirement if they ever planned to implement an automated control system. However, the team at Innovia told them that they could eliminate this step without any issues. They could begin again once they started to automate the process. Eliminating this single step saved a lot of time across multiple departments. It made everyone’s job much easier throughout shipping, output, and finance.

Recently, Clean Control found a better way to work even more efficiently despite the greater demand for their product because of COVID-19. Chemists at the company developed a pre-blend formula for creating a quicker recipe. However, they could not modify production orders within the system to replace recipes due to the changing supply.
