The news that Microsoft had launched a new end-to-end data and analytics platform, Microsoft Fabric, currently in preview mode, spread like wildfire this week.

On the heels of the announcement came another from Informatica; the enterprise cloud data company revealed that it would be one of the platform’s first ISV (independent software vendor) design partners.

Informatica is on our Top 10 Shortlist of Data Modernization Enablers.

Building on a Trusted Partnership

As we reported from the Informatica World conference earlier this month, Informatica has continued to strengthen its partnership with Microsoft. In particular, Informatica announced that its Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) would be available as an Azure Native ISV Service. So, what does the latest news mean for joint customers?

Which companies are the most important vendors in data? Check out the Acceleration Economy Data Modernization Top 10 Shortlist.

Ultimately, the integration of IDMC will bring AI-powered data management capabilities to Microsoft Fabric as a first-party service. Customers can benefit from the following:

  • Informatica’s data quality features to find and utilize high-quality data assets in Microsoft Fabric’s OneLake
  • Rapid data discovery through Informatica’s Cloud Data Marketplace
  • Data integration from over 200 sources into OneLake in the open-source Delta Parquet format

“For the last 18 months, we’ve worked closely with our partners at Microsoft to develop the seamless integrations between IDMC and Fabric, and we are excited to be one of the first ISV design partners for Microsoft Fabric,” said Jitesh Ghai, Chief Product Officer at Informatica, in a press release.

“The Informatica IDMC-Microsoft Fabric integration offers frictionless delivery of our trusted data management capabilities and provides Azure customers confidence that their data is of the highest quality to power their tier-one business objectives.”

Unified Data, Powered By AI

Microsoft is positioning Fabric under the AI umbrella as an AI-powred solution to unified data analysis. One of the key selling points of the companies’ collaboration is the ability to develop AI models without the requirement for data movement. Informatica is supporting this goal by providing its AI-powered data improvement capabilities as an integration option.

Furthermore, Informatica’s existing relationship with Microsoft has demonstrated to Azure customers the benefits of using its flagship IDMC platform. The ongoing partnership has enabled Informatica to present itself at the front of the queue as an ISV design partner for Microsoft Fabric. In many ways, it is a natural progression from its commitment to and compatibility with Azure.

Users can enroll for a private preview starting June 2023.
