On the back of the recent 2026 RSAC Conference in San Francisco, cybersecurity news has been coming in thick and fast. Google Cloud was in attendance, and during the three-day summit, the company revealed a series of cybersecurity developments that outline its approach to security in the agentic AI Era.
At the top of the agenda was Google Cloud’s recent acquisition of the cybersecurity firm Wiz, which closed in March. The acquisition will integrate Wiz’s dedicated cloud and AI security capabilities into the Google Cloud ecosystem, enhancing Google Cloud’s security by providing a more streamlined multi-cloud approach. Wiz’s AI security agents deliver a unique approach to scalable AI security, and the company’s infrastructure is finely tuned for AI use cases.
Agentic Defense
Beyond the acquisition, Google Cloud revealed its latest in-house agentic tools for security. Agentic automation, currently in preview in Google Security Operations, enables security teams to align automated security processes with agents. This means customers can embed dedicated security agents, including the Triage and Investigation agent, which investigates alerts, delivers evidence for later analysis, and provides verdicts for security professionals, directly into their workflows.
The result? Decision-making is expedited through the automation process, allowing cybersecurity professionals to focus more on the most high-stakes threats. Starting in April, Google Security Operations customers will also have the means to develop their own security agents with support for the remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server.
Regarding dark web intelligence, Google Cloud has integrated agents with Google Threat Intelligence to focus on data synthesis and artifact triage while introducing another new feature, dark web intelligence, to create a complete threat profile unique to each organization.
“Internal tests show Google Threat Intelligence can analyze millions of daily external events — with 98% accuracy,” reads a recent announcement blog. “The new dark web intelligence capability is positioned to change how organizations gain insight into some of the hardest-to-track threats and threat actors in the world.”
Other Innovations
Google Cloud has introduced a flurry of security advances across other products, too.
From an AI protection stance, Google Cloud is introducing AI Protection in Security Command Center to the Vertex AI Agent Engine to catch threats delivered by agents, integrating Model Armor with Google MCP servers to expand its coverage, adding new AI-powered context classifications to Sensitive Data Protection, and external exposure management features to Security Command Center so users can observe their attack surface from the outside in.
Google Cloud is also boosting network security with updates including in-band integration, which enables customers to easily secure application workloads using third-party network devices, and new capabilities in Cloud Armor for improved centralized control.
Google Cloud, in partnership with Citrix, is enhancing security in Chrome Enterprise Premium. This includes browser cache encryption, protection against keylogging, and ongoing device posture reviews. Also, clipboard protections are being extended to Citrix virtual apps and web apps.
Closing Thoughts
It has long been said that the best way to secure data in the AI Era is to use AI as a protection mechanism, and we are beginning to see this theory in action.
With its latest security developments, Google Cloud has made a solid pivot toward agentic AI. The company clearly sees the future of AI as agentic and is not only responding by providing security measures that target agentic vulnerabilities but also deploying agents to carry out these tasks. Not long ago, trusting AI to complete autonomous security tasks would have seemed radical; to some, it still might.
Yet, that is the direction of travel, and Google Cloud is embracing it. If you want powerful productive agents, you need equally capable defense agents to match these mind-boggling capabilities.
