Highlights

00:08 — “It’s hard to act upon anything that you don’t know exists. Or, if you don’t have a sense of it, you’re not going to do anything about it,” says Rob.

00:21 — He uses the same analogy regarding his children, who leave their toys on the ground to get swept under the couch. “We have to put it in its right place, we have to make sure we know where it is, so you can do something about it.”

00:45 — The NIST cybersecurity framework has five core pillars:

  1. Activity
  2. Identity
  3. Protect
  4. Detect
  5. Respond

Rob explains that in each of these pillars, you can do things that are supported by technology, people, or a process. A lot of times, it isn’t just one or the other, he says. In fact, “it’s probably always going to be some kind of combination of the three.”
