Highlights

00:10 — Walmart, the largest company in the world, is becoming a cloud vendor. The company is planning on selling enterprise-level cloud solutions and applications for retail and commerce.

00:28 — This year, Walmart Global Tech plans to expand from 20,000 employees up to 25,000 employees. Additionally, Walmart Commerce Tech will be bringing the commerce, retail, and operational applications and solutions—that Walmart developed for its own use—out into the market.

01:05 — On LinkedIn, Walmart released a job description for the Head of Enterprise Sales for Walmart Commerce Technology. For instance, the description required a sales leader to take a billion-dollar portfolio to market and sell it to every size of retailer.

02:26 — This will compete directly against SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Microsoft, Google Cloud, and even Workday. Although Walmart may claim it’s not trying to compete, Bob believes the company wants to recoup some of the investments that it has made through its solutions.
