In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, I want to honor my brother Joe, who passed away recently.
Highlights
00:13 — Last week, my brother Joe succumbed to a 12-year battle with a brain tumor. Joe will always be remembered by his five siblings as an incredible brother, friend, and hero and by his wife and two children as an unbelievable father, friend, and somebody that they could always count on.
01:45 — Joe valiantly battled through multiple surgeries for the tumor; he never complained. It reminded everyone around him of how special and precious life is, and how every day is a gift. It was a reminder for me to not hold back on giving hugs to people, telling them how I feel about them, and not getting caught up in things like my flight being delayed by half an hour.
02:39 — Joe was a leader when he got into the fairly new world of business valuation where he brought in some of his public accounting skills. Early in my life, he was my hero because of his athletic ability. As I grew up, I began to see that what I truly prized about him wasn’t his athletic ability but his heart, desire, and competitive spirit.
03:39 — These were balanced by his devotion to his family, his faith, his friends, a sense of humility, kindness to everyone, service to others, generosity, honesty, integrity, courage, and having an uncompromising feeling about right and wrong.
04:12 — Joe was the hardest worker I’ve ever known, both in what he did in his professional life, and physically. He always thought of others first and I hope that I can live to be half the man Joe Evans was.
