I was on location at Automation Anywhere Imagine 2023 in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, and here’s my overview of the keynote.
Highlights
00:22 — The theme of Automation Anywhere Imagine 2023 is generative AI meets robotic process automation (RPA), to go beyond RPA. At the keynote, attendees learned about a terrific set of artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements to the product.
00:49 — The first is a Responsible AI layer. It allows you to put in various large language models and can help you with language model selection. Plus, it has its own models, which have been trained with millions of anonymized data points from automations. It’s taken some risk out of the model selection. It also has templates, data privacy controls, monitoring, and audit enhancements.
01:59 — The other thing attendees learned about was the Automation Co-Pilot for Business Users, which is automation built right into the applications you’re building. You’re able to do things like anti-money laundering and fraud detection. It also does the same for document automation.

02:51 — Another enhancement is Autopilot, which stitches together Process Discovery, Center of Excellence Manager, and Automation Co-pilot for Automators. These are tools with an AI layer that are designed to help the professional or semi-professional Automator, designer of RPA flows, build their models.
03:39 — My definition of AI is not artificial intelligence. It is augmented intelligence. It is intelligence that helps you, the user, become smarter, faster, more productive, and safer. And that’s what it seems like Automation Anywhere is announcing: tools to help you build tools, so those tools themselves become smarter.
04:25 — It was a terrific set of announcements, really feature-packed, and I’m looking forward to going and learning how all these tools work.
