Innovation (00:37)
OpenAI announced a new committee to bring recommendations to the board around AI safety and security. The committee comprises the top leaders at OpenAI, including CEO Sam Altman. In its announcement, OpenAI stated that the committee will be evaluating and furthering the development of the company’s processes and safeguards “for the next 90 days.” At the end of those 90 days, the committee will share the recommendations with the board, and then release the recommendations publicly.
Similarly, Mark Zuckerberg announced a new AI advisory council at Meta, consisting of four executives. This council will meet with Meta’s overall management periodically to guide the company’s AI strategy at the highest level. At its last earnings call, Meta shared that it plans to spend $5 billion more than initially forecasted on AI products. At the start of the year, the company also pledged $35 million on AI expenditures across 2024.

With entrepreneurs around the world seeing opportunities for AI, France is emerging as the leader in AI innovation and funding in Europe. France-based startups have raised over $2 billion to date. For instance, Mistral AI has raised hundreds of millions. H has raised a $220 million seed round. Poolside raised a $400 million round, with a $2 billion valuation, to build out cogeneration tools for developers using GenAI.

LinkedIn built an AI-powered career coach which also serves as a resume writer. This tool is embedded directly into the LinkedIn platform. The company built a generative model trained on a human career coach and their advice, as well as professional resumes and cover letters. This will help users who are looking for jobs create these job assets and evaluate their qualifications against other applicants.
