ServiceNow is steaming ahead with its plans to bolster existing capabilities for manufacturing, logistics, and energy and transport customers. The company has announced a pair of acquisitions that promise to supercharge its existing operational technology (OT) management features.
ServiceNow has signed an agreement to acquire 4Industry, an existing partner that brings a manufacturing app dedicated to shop floor efficiency built on the Now Platform, and completed the acquisition of EY’s Smart Daily Management app. These announcements build on the momentum from ServiceNow’s recent acquisitions of UltimateSuite, G2K, Atrinet’s NetACE technology, and Element AI.
Who Is 4Industry?
Netherlands-based 4Industry was founded in 2018. Its flagship Connected Worker Platform is a mobile-enabled application that provides frontline workers with tools for knowledge management, autonomous management, task management, and environment, health, and safety.
“4Industry is strongly aligned with ServiceNow’s core philosophy that digitization and automation are the keys to making employees happier and more productive,” said Luc Raeskin, CEO of 4Industry. “We can’t wait to get started and fulfill our mission of enabling the Connected Worker to become extraordinary by enabling them to focus on what truly matters in their work.”
What is EY Smart Daily Management?
EY’s Smart Daily Management application drives productivity by making time-consuming tasks more efficient. The Smart Daily Management app is a digital shopfloor that enables users to reduce the time spent on tasks that don’t add value and improves workflows.
“Smart Daily Management was designed to transform the manufacturing function by coupling data-driven insight and effective ways of working into the daily activities of operating teams,” said Hank Prybylski, EY Global Vice Chair, Transformation.
“As the EY organization evolved the capabilities of Smart Daily Management, it became clear that integration into the ServiceNow platform would maximize the ability for customers to deploy and scale the value.”
How Customers Will Benefit
ServiceNow will combine the industry expertise and technology from 4Industry with the Smart Daily Management application to develop a Connected Worker application for its Now platform. The new feature will be available next year.
“Industries like manufacturing, energy and transport, and logistics are embracing digital transformation to achieve operational excellence and provide great experiences for Connected Workers,” said Lou Fiorello, VP & GM Security and OT at ServiceNow.
“Companies can’t get to excellence if they are constantly re-hiring and re-training talent each month. These deals allow us to combine best-in-class expertise and technology with the power of the Now Platform to help our industrial customers increase uptime, drive efficiency, and improve quality.”
Closing Thoughts
With these latest acquisitions, ServiceNow is solidifying its position as an important enabler of smart industry tools. While IoT and other hardware developments are often highlighted when discussing the digital transformation of companies operating in the industrial sector, software applications that connect the dots are the catalyst for uniting people with processes.
