Highlights

Innovation (00:55)

The National Football League (NFL) has been using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its machine learning platform SageMaker to gain better insights from player data. The NFL has developed its Next Gen Stats platform which tracks data through RFID tracking devices on the players’ equipment, such as padding and their helmets. For more accurate insights into the data collected, the NFL partnered with Amazon to host the data on AWS, applying machine learning to turn the data into useful analytics.

Having a better understanding of this data holds value for all stakeholders involved in the game — coaches, team management, players, and even fans. It enables teams to make strategic decisions on plays. Players can better understand strengths and weaknesses. These datasets can also contribute to injury prevention. Additionally, the media can break down the data to provide new angles on their coverage of athletes and games. These advanced analytics also allow viewers to better understand what’s happening during games, including the recent Super Bowl, improving the overall fan experience.

Funding (04:38)

Kore.ai develops enterprise-focused conversational AI and generative AI (GenAI) products. The company helps its enterprise customers automate employee-to-customer and customer-to-employee interactions via GenAI and large language models (LLMs). Kore.ai offers a suite of automated contact center virtual agents as well as providing AI search capabilities to human customer service agents.

It recently announced that it raised $150 million in funding. The funding will go toward its already growing workforce as well as product development.

Solution of the Week (07:18)

OpenAI is launching a new subscription plan for ChatGPT that’s tailor-made for small-to-medium-sized teams. It goes up to 149 team members. Additionally, it comes with admin tools that help manage the team’s access to ChatGPT Plus. This plan costs around $30 a month per user, or $25 per user per month if billed annually. This offering creates the opportunity for smaller teams to benefit from ChatGPT Plus without entering large enterprise contracts.
