In this moment, excerpted from Bob Evans’ Road to Oracle CloudWorld interview with Jenny Tsai-Smith, vice president of overall database product management, Oracle, the discussion turns to the convergence of Oracle Database with generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) and machine learning (ML).
Highlights
00:08 — The first thing Jenny sees in the morning is articles about Gen AI and large language models (LLMs). It’s exciting because Oracle Database has been providing AI and machine learning for many years. It supports 30-plus different ML algorithms inside the database.
00:36 — Oracle Database has graph analytic capabilities. In fact, 23c has a feature to build a graph view on top of operational data. For Gen AI, Oracle wants to offer a database that can be super-fast in processing and conducting similarity searches for vectors. It also wants to support and integrate with third-party LLMs.
01:13 — On top of that, Oracle aims to leverage Gen AI capabilities to make its tools, like SQL Developer, easier to use, which would make everybody more productive.
