Highlights
01:29 — Kieron shares a significant question proposed by an article, which was sent to him by a colleague this week: “Will we still want the Metaverse after the pandemic?”
02:13 — The pandemic has driven many companies to invest in the Metaverse. It has seen an explosion of technologies, but will they still be relevant after Covid-19? Yes, but perhaps not in the way we see them now.
02:43 — For example, people aren’t likely to be spending 20-hours a day with a headset, but perhaps they’ll spend one or two hours a day as long as the value is there.
02:53 — From a different angle, some of the biggest corporations in the world are willing to take such enormous risks with it.
03:12 — The losses have already been colossal and people are still driving forward with Metaverse innovations. Let’s look at Meta. It lost 10 billion in its Metaverse enterprises last year, which wiped $232 billion off the company’s value. But Meta is still moving forward with its endeavors.
03:34 — We have to trust the big corporations that they know what they’re doing. These huge multi-billion dollar investments have to be completed for a reason and when the technology is there, we will adopt it because that’s what happens. How we adopt it remains to be seen.
