01:33 — First, you prioritize by identifying your burning platform, i.e., the critical issues that require your immediate attention. Next, you patch by quickly fixing the most broken thing. Then, you polish by identifying what annoys people.
02:52 — Perfecting comes after you’ve fixed the major issues and eliminated annoyances. If you have multiple workstreams or programs, you can run the process at different speeds for each.
03:40 — This framework helps you communicate with your business users and keep track of technical debt. It’s a way to communicate, organize your thoughts, talk to the board and IT team, and get a handle on the daily mess that CIOs encounter, especially in a new workplace.
