00:15 — This episode is sponsored by Community Summit North America, which will take place October 10-13 in Orlando, Florida.
00:46 — Some influential voices have recently stated that data contracts kill innovation.
01:06 — Pablo defines a data contract as nothing more than a formal agreement between a data producer and a data consumer, clarifying what type of data is passed from each party. Data contracts are especially important when data governance needs to be in place.
02:08 — Data is a living entity that is constantly evolving as long as human interactions continue to evolve, as data is a representation of real life. If there are new sources of data from the producer’s side that weren’t in the agreement, then the consumer would be missing opportunities to further contextualize their data analysis.
02:52 — In these situations, there can be limitations to the producer providing more data. Because it would be more work for the producer to go beyond the contract, it limits the consumer’s innovation.
03:35 — So, should data contracts be reimagined when the data changes frequently?
