For the AI Era to truly take hold and revolutionize processes in every sector, we need state-of-the-art infrastructure. In response to this need, IBM has introduced IBM Power11, a groundbreaking iteration of IBM Power servers that promises to revolutionize the landscape of enterprise computing in the AI Era.

As the volume and complexity of data continue to grow at an exponential rate, the need for high-performance servers becomes increasingly critical. IBM Power11, with its unwavering reliability, is IBM’s robust and secure solution to this escalating demand.

Next-Generation Infrastructure

With Power11, IBM has reimagined the system, enhancing both its hardware architecture and virtualization software stack. The system’s unique feature is its unparalleled flexibility in deployment, allowing it to be seamlessly integrated into a hybrid environment, whether on-premises or in the IBM Cloud. This focus on flexibility empowers organizations to operate across hybrid environments, reducing complexity and increasing adaptability.

“IBM Power11 changes the game for enterprise computing,” said Tom McPherson, GM, Power Systems at IBM. “With Power11, clients can accelerate into the AI era with innovations tailored to their most pressing business needs.

“We are taking advantage of the full IBM stack to deliver hybrid cloud, AI, and automation capabilities while building on our decades-long reputation as a trustworthy hybrid infrastructure for essential workloads.”

Key features of Power11 include:

  • 99.9999% of uptime
  • Zero planned downtime for system maintenance
  • Under a minute ransomware threat detection with IBM Power Cyber Vault
  • Twice the performance per watt compared to other x86 servers
  • watsonx.data, hybrid, open data lakehouse (by close of 2025)

AI Agent & Copilot Summit is an AI-first event to define opportunities, impact, and outcomes with Microsoft Copilot and agents. Building on its 2025 success, the 2026 event takes place March 17-19 in San Diego. Get more details.

Built for the AI Era

Power11 supports AI workloads in various ways and across multiple areas. It includes high-end, mid-range, and entry-level servers, as well as the IBM Power Virtual Server in IBM Cloud.

Power11 is also the first IBM Power server to support IBM’s Spyre Accelerator, a powerful “system-on-a-chip” specifically designed for AI inference workloads. This accelerator, as described by the company, will significantly boost the performance of IBM Power11 for AI tasks, allowing companies to scale their AI initiatives across hybrid cloud infrastructures.

Closing Thoughts

With Power11, IBM is delivering an incredibly capable system for companies that want to scale their AI workloads across hybrid cloud environments. The system’s scalability ensures that it can meet the growing demands of AI workloads, demonstrating IBM’s commitment to flexibility and enablement in the AI space.

This enablement has also been very apparent in IBM’s partner relationships, where the company has been actively developing capabilities for Agentic AI orchestration across disparate systems. This focus on interoperability is helping IBM stand out and define its position in the burgeoning Agentic AI space.

While IBM is often referred to as a legacy tech company, it is misleading to assume that this means it is behind on emerging technologies. Instead, IBM is leveraging its legacy to adapt the incredibly widespread and trusted infrastructure already in use, effectively enabling customers to thrive. This unique position, combined with IBM’s commitment to emerging technologies, makes it a powerful player in the tech industry.
