I was on location at Automation Anywhere Imagine in Austin, last week. In this video, I speak with Mariesa Coughanour, head of advisory for the automation practice, Cognizant. We explore the dynamic partnership between Automation Anywhere and Cognizant, fueled by generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) and Intelligent Automation.

Automation Anywhere is on the Acceleration Economy Top 10 Shortlist of AI/Hyperautomation Enablers.

Highlights

01:21 —Cognizant has been an early partner for Automation Anywhere. They focused on Intelligent Automation. It was important to make that shift from the tactical, more RPA (robotic process automation) type of work. They work together to help clients scale, adopt, and accelerate quicker. Mariesa likes that Automation Anywhere incorporates customer and client feedback quickly.

02:23 — Clients are really looking to achieve their metrics and strategic vision. How do you find the best, most impactful opportunities [for automation] across all these industries? And then how do you do it with speed, in a way that fits into that client ecosystem and helps them sustain these goals long-term?

03:15 — Culture is important. To really see the impact, you have to think about how you transform the work in the process. How do you bring your people along this journey? Anyone who’s achieved success and maturity in the space knows that change management and people were key success factors.

4:40 —GenAI is going to be a game-changer. You’re able to use this in your day-to-day life. Think of the power of combining GenAI with automation, being able to get these accelerated insights, and outcomes, and then drive also the actions on the back end. Mariesa is excited about the potential.

06:27 — The finance base is super keen to use the combination of GenAI and automation. A timely manner is very critical for those roles. They’re at the forefront. Mariesa is seeing not only more back-office functions using the technology but also these middle- and front-office teams. Mariesa thinks most marketing teams are using some type of LLM (large language model) or Chat-GPT to pull information.

07:12 — Think of a sales team. If you’re able to get that information about the client, you’re going to go and speak that much faster with the insights to be able to have a meaningful conversation that is truly about them.

07:50 — So many salespeople just want to talk to people, and in order to do that, ironically, you need to automate all that information, intelligently put all the pieces together, and then understand and do research using GenAI.
