While all-in-one generative artificial intelligence (AI) chat platforms fuelled by internet data and capable of answering almost any question imaginable have made the headlines, navigating these capabilities and understanding when and how to use them from an enterprise standpoint can be challenging. That’s why the specification is quickly becoming one of the most desirable features of emerging generative AI products for the enterprise.
One of the first movers in the data and AI space to champion enterprise generative AI was C3 AI, which is on the Top Ten Acceleration Economy AI/Hyperautomation Short List. The company has launched C3 Generative AI for Industries, Business Processes, and Enterprise Systems offerings, marketed as the first domain-specific generative AI product that addresses specific use cases in each area. The new offering is the latest element of the C3 Generative AI Product Suite, coming on the back of C3 Generative AI for Enterprise Search, launched earlier this year.
Building on Multi-Industry Experience
According to C3 AI, enterprise users spend up to 20% of their time looking for business-critical data because there is no centralized repository in most cases. Instead, data is spread across systems and applications and often managed by individual data owners.
As a result, a huge volume of data is left untouched and doesn’t inform enterprise developments. C3 Generative AI for Industries, Business Processes, and Enterprise Systems aims to change that by building on the industry-specific work C3 AI has already completed alongside its long list of enterprise clients across manufacturing, financial services, defense, energy, and utilities.
C3 Generative AI for Industries, Business Processes, and Enterprise Systems utilizes the company’s existing domain-specific AI applications, data models, and connectors and combines this with C3 Generative AI to eliminate the requirement for much of the preproduction work required pre-deployment. For example, the platform’s Generative AI for Manufacturing product includes models pre-trained on operating procedures and equipment manuals, as well as data connectors to common sources.

C3 AI’s new generative AI offering is extensive but some of the areas it covers include the following:
- As well as manufacturing, C3 Generative AI for Industries covers many other core sectors such as defense, telecommunications, healthcare, and utilities.
- C3 Generative AI for Business Processes tackles various domains such as supply chain, finance, HR, and customer service.
- C3 Generative AI for Enterprise Systems supports all the leading enterprise platforms including, but not limited to, Salesforce, Snowflake, SAP, and Workday.
C3 AI CEO Thomas M. Siebel commented on the launch in a recent press release, “C3 AI continues to anticipate market demands and then innovate to meet those needs, and these newest solutions are a clear demonstration of that leadership,” he said. “This offering leverages the experience and knowledge we’ve gathered over the past decade from doing deep, industry-specific work with our customers building advanced AI applications — and now both new and existing customers can take advantage of that decade of work and deploy secure, proven generative AI right now.”
Wrap Up
This latest offering from C3 AI builds on the company’s extensive experience providing enterprise-grade AI. However, it’s the domain-specificity of the product suite that is perhaps the most exciting development.
We spoke with Siebel back in June this year about C3 AI’s generative AI ambitions. During the conversation, he discussed the company’s intentions to take another direction to the chat model that so many organizations have adopted and use the technology in more “non-obvious ways.”
C3 AI is dedicated to the enterprise. This acute focus on domain-specificity follows the trajectory laid out when the company launched its C3 Generative AI Product Suite. It’s a highly tailored product suite and one that will appeal to any company looking to maximize the reach and efficiency of generative AI in their industry.
