In episode 110 of the Acceleration Economy Minute, I report on location at Oracle CloudWorld, providing my perspective on a session that aimed to make the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) clearer.
Highlights
00:28 — I attended a fascinating CloudWorld session entitled “Demystifying Generative AI and Its Benefits to Business,” led by Miranda Nash, group vice president of applications development strategy at Oracle. In the session, Nash laid out the basics of generative AI.
00:58 — She explained its greatest benefits are productivity gains. In response, Oracle will be embedding Janus VR across a large number of its Fusion applications. It will enable assisted authoring such as for job descriptions and performance reviews.
01:31 — What really sets Oracle apart in its approach to generative AI is the way that it enforces human oversight. While generative AI is embedded, actions are always returned to users for editing and review, among other guardrails. Users trust Oracle because of their security focus. Data remains private.
02:13 — Finally, Oracle has put guardrails in place to stop hallucinations, a problem that arises when large language models (LLMs) are essentially tricked purposefully or by accident into confidently displaying false information. To avoid this, Oracle conducts comprehensive prompt engineering, ensuring the right questions are addressed to LLMs.
