In episode 41 of the Acceleration Economy Minute, Kieron Allen breaks down a survey that came from Singapore, which suggests high rates of automation adoption, with the vast majority of respondents noting the positive results of using the technology.

This episode of the Acceleration Economy Minute is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s Sustainability Digital Impact Summit, taking place on January 26, 2023. Listeners will receive actionable insights from technology buying committee analysts and leading technology providers. Click here to register today.

Highlights

00:41 — A new study on digital automation in Singapore found that more than 80% of respondents use some sort of automation to tackle key issues around labor and productivity. Of the respondents who use automation, 98% registered positive outcomes with automation. The positive results include:

  • Reduction in manual work
  • Higher visibility and access to data
  • Improved employee experience

01:22 — All of this is a “test case,” says Kieron, since it focuses on a single market location. This survey is a strong piece of evidence to suggest the need for automation adoption in the acceleration economy.

01:35 — Singapore is known for its technological advancements but 80% of survey respondents using automation is a high statistic. Kieron finds it interesting that one of the most notable benefits is improved employee experience, since automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotic process automation (RPA) are normally thought of as technologies that reduce employee satisfaction, out of fear that it will take jobs from humans.

02:14 — The results of this survey represent a completely different spectrum, in which the adoption of automation is widely accepted. It showcases how automation can enable employees to focus on their core tasks without having to spread themselves too thin. The result? Increased employee satisfaction.

03:04 — Although this survey is specific to Singapore, Kieron believes that the level of automation adoption can be mirrored and replicated in other areas of the world.
