01:28 — Five state regulators in the United States have accused an online, Metaverse-based casino of scamming its users. Essentially, they are blaming the casino for flogging fake NFTs.
02:14 — Apparently, they are supposed to be linked to a physical casino, but that’s not the case. There’s a promise of a profit share, but the five state regulators have noticed discrepancies. Further, there have even been discussions about how the land purchased for the casino is linked to Snoop Dogg.
02:44 — This is certainly one of the most high-profile takedowns of an alleged Meraverse scam so far. However, it begs the question, with security so intrinsically linked with the Metaverse, why are platforms not doing more to enable users to understand the risks of scammers?
