Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute, your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder Bob Evans. The next three minutes are packed with insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud! Today’s Topic: 5 Steps on the IBM Industry Cloud Roadmap
Highlights
0:46 – Following his conversation with IBM cloud chief Howard Boville, Bob put together an outline of 5 key points in IBM’s roadmap for success in the industry cloud market. First, Howard said that IBM is focused on four particular industries that are all highly regulated: financial services, healthcare, government and telco.
01:21 – The second key point for IBM industry cloud, according to Howard Boville, is their approach to co-creation with financial institutions. They started working with 8, and are now up to 70 institutions that they’re working with to help them develop industry cloud plans and strategies.
01:55 – Third, Howard said that IBM is starting to move from a global approach to its work with financial institutions to country- and region-specific planning. This will help IBM’s customers develop cloud solutions that address their specific needs and goals.
02:22 – The next point that Howard shared was to outline three “guiding principles” that drive all of the industry cloud work that IBM is doing. Those principles are productivity, value creation, and control.
02:40 – Lastly, Howard emphasized that open clouds and open architecture are key to IBM in industry clouds. It has to be that way, he says, and IBM is more than open to working with other vendors to get their customers the solutions they need.
