Adams Land & Cattle is an agribusiness based in Nebraska specializing in crops and beef while focusing on food safety, environmental stewardship, and animal welfare. The company replaced Sage 500 with Sage X3, as they needed to expand their data reporting while also streamlining different information from several sources.
Business Need – User-Friendly Data Management System
The financial reporting from X3 was insufficient, as the business needed a reporting tool to manage all of the finances at Adams Land & Cattle. The company needed a software solution to enhance its report writing while also simplifying its processes. Finding a software solution with an Excel-based report was necessary, as the employees were already familiar with using this software in Sage 500.
Adams Land & Cattle began searching for a user-friendly data management system that enabled them to create custom reports for improving workflow and increasing analytical processes on a much larger scale. Finding a consolidated area for using all of their data types to publish reports was a challenge too big for their native ERP functions.
Technology Solution – Solver Data Warehouse
Solver Data Warehouse made it simple to produce and publish various reports without linking Excel spreadsheets due to all of the data being in the same warehouse. The same source for data eliminates the need for using several spreadsheets and the linking required for those spreadsheets.
The employees at Solver were extremely helpful in loading the data while also providing training on how to generate reports by using the data in the warehouse. Solver also offered training on creating modules and dimensions within the Solver Data Warehouse, which made it possible to upload information and use it in connection with existing reports.
An ever-increasing number of businesses are now using centralized data warehouses to connect their different data sources, as the objective is to implement self-service business intelligence for analysis and reporting processes.
Adams Land & Cattle also needed to increase their reporting efforts to gain more in-depth analysis. Solver offered suggestions on how to utilize the Solver Data Warehouse, such as creating custom reports. Initially, the focus was on general ledger data for reporting monthly financials, but now the company is also using fixed asset data for budgeting and reporting. Payroll data is also being used to create reports for comparing the budget to actual hours and rates. The company is also in the initial stages of uploading cattle data.
Financial reporting was the initial focus for using the Solver Data Warehouse. Still, now Adams Land & Cattle is also using the Solver Planning module for creating budgets and predictive models. Now it’s possible to create a balance sheet and an income statement forecast. Solver makes it possible to store this information and update these values at any time while also producing reports for a new budget. Soon, the company will begin to build more reports by using the new cattle data with the Solver Data Warehouse.
Results
Solver did more than help Adams Land & Cattle to achieve its reporting goals. It also gave them additional opportunities to utilize their Sage X3 data to understand their finances better in order to help make plans for the future. Adams Land & Cattle plans to continue to add other data types within the Solver Data Warehouse to improve analytics and enhance decision-making across the entire organization.
