Looking at ways to improve cloud security remains a top priority for businesses. IBM Security recently announced a plan to use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance cloud infrastructure security for hybrid environments. This plan for the hybrid cloud integrates with existing AWS security services for quick deployment of IBM Security technologies while also offering support for managed security and expert consulting services.
What Is a Hybrid Cloud Architecture?
Businesses are increasingly using hybrid cloud computing to better meet their needs in the workplace. Hybrid cloud architecture simply combines at least two environments, whether it’s public, private, or a virtual environment. However, IT security teams may struggle to manage these diverse environments, which increases the chance of a data breach. Many companies are now seeking to modernize and streamline security for hybrid cloud environments by using integrated offerings and collaborating with cloud service providers and cybersecurity leaders.
IBM and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Role in Cloud Security
IBM Security uses a more open approach by allowing for deeper visibility and connections across the hybrid cloud ecosystem. Working with AWS cloud security creates a more seamless experience for clients by minimizing the complexity of IT security on the cloud. Businesses can securely migrate to the AWS hybrid cloud while also modernizing workloads to improve efficiency.
Greater Visibility and Insight
Gaining additional visibility and insights into cloud security is critical in staying proactive against cyber threats. The AWS Marketplace now offers IBM Security QRadar to make it easier for customers to deploy advanced cloud security analytics within each environment. Numerous AWS security services are now integrated, such as Amazon GuardDuty, AWS CloudTrail, AWS Network Firewall service, AWS Security Hub, and many others.
Simplify Threat Investigation
All of these options simplify and accelerate the threat investigation process for AWS cloud security. IBM has also created a Quick Start guide to help businesses simplify and automate the deployment of its open security platform across the AWS hybrid cloud environments. Cloud Pak for Security uses Red Hat OpenShift software that includes pre-built connectors for additional cloud security. This enables security teams to search for threats across the AWS hybrid cloud by using a unified platform without the need for migrating data.
Limit Complexity and Improve Overall Security
IBM Security Services is an AWS Premier Consulting Partner who received the AWS Security Competency designation by showcasing technical proficiency, managing security, and helping customers with AWS security services. IBM Security Services also includes support for a variety of AWS native security services, such as Amazon Inspector, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Detective, and AWS CloudTrial.
