CHIPS Act Aims to Boost Domestic Chip Production

In Cybersecurity Minute Episode 24, analyst Chris Hughes breaks down the CHIPS Act, designed to boost domestic semiconductor chip production and relieve dependence on foreign resources.

Highlights 

00:08 — The U.S. recently passed the CHIPS Act, designed to expand domestic semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.

00:30 — The act equates to more than $50 billion in investments for industries desperately in need of chips. Only 12% of chips are made domestically today.

01:24 — The act aims to mitigate the widespread dependence on foreign semiconductor chips.

02:00 — The bill includes $39 billion in grants for new manufacturing, $11 billion for federal research programs, and $2 billion for defense department microelectronics.
