Located in Maputo, Mozambique, Banco MAIS is a commercial bank supporting business development throughout the region. The bank has branches in Boane, Chimoio, Tete, Maputo, and Xai-Xai. Through its several branches, the bank offers various financial solutions to businesses and individuals. Banco MAIS was interested in a software solution to improve their services while using IBM Business Process Manager on Cloud.
Throughout Mozambique, banking marketing is highly competitive. For example, 18 banks throughout the country serve nearly 29 million people. The bank had hopes to retain and grow market share. In order to achieve this, Banco MAIS would have to produce products quicker and aim for lower costs. This trend isn’t only limited to Mozambique. It’s a global trend for businesses in nearly every industry. Clients want products at a cheaper cost without having to wait on them.
A top priority for Banco MAIS was to decrease turnaround times for customer-facing services. While doing this, they also wanted to be able to keep up with competitors in the Mozambique banking industry. The bank needed a solution to streamline its entire baking process to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
Software Solution – A Cloud-Based Process Manager
Banco MAIS partnered with Habber Tech to help implement its IBM Business Process Manager on Cloud service. This cloud-based solution was swift and straightforward to implement. Instead of purchasing expensive hardware or hiring additional people, Banco MAIS could take advantage of the cloud to streamline its services for customers. Using the cloud is especially beneficial in Africa. It can often take at least three months or longer to obtain and install hardware for supporting an on-premise solution.
Final Results
Once the Business Process Manager on Cloud was implemented, it enabled Banco MAIS to gain much-needed visibility into all of its processes. Gaining greater visibility made it easier to analyze each process and look at areas to improve. Now, managers can understand the amount of time and resources for each process. An increase in visibility resulted in the bank making various process improvements. This helped reduce turnaround time for loans from five days to two days, a 60% improvement.
Implementing all of these services in the cloud is a relatively simple and straightforward process compared to buying and installing on-premise solutions. For instance, you can easily have the entire cloud service operating within two to three weeks. It used to take at least three months or longer. Decreasing the implementation time of these services greatly improved efficiency. Additionally, it boosted the bottom line for Banco MAIS. Using this technology makes it possible for the bank to constantly find ways to improve and best meet the needs of each customer. Cloud technology is a much more cost-effective investment than other solutions. The partnership with Habber Tech to implement IBM’s cloud solution was an excellent investment.
