Tecplot’s Marketing Team Used a Dynamics Web Portal to Improve Efficiency

Business Need – A New Web Portal

Tecplot is a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) data visualization tool that empowers engineers and scientists to simulate information and test data results. Tecplot used a custom web portal maintained by an in-house developer who also managed their company website. However, this resource eventually became unavailable. Due to their dependence on using one resource to handle their website and portal needs, Tecplot was in a challenging situation. They were determined to find a new solution that could be easily managed in-house without the need for developers.

Tecplot was also working on a time-sensitive solution in upgrading their Dynamics CRM to CRM Online.

Technology Solution – The Portal Connector

After investigating several web portal solutions, Tecplot chose The Portal Connector provided by Dynamics CRM. Using The Portal Connector was a lot easier to use than Microsoft Portals. They received a trial version to understand the features better. Overall, Tecplot found the software to be more cost-effective and efficient. Also, the customer service team was easier to reach if they encountered any issues.

Brain Mullinax is an Operations Project Manager at Tecplot. He felt that the team at The Portal Connector cared about their company and always wanted to provide immediate assistance for any technical problems.

Tecplot worked with the team at The Portal Connector to create a web portal to best meet their needs with the importance of upgrading their CRM within a tight deadline. The services provided by the team at The Portal Connector were fairly priced. The training programs helped provide additional knowledge.

Once the portal became functional, Tecplot could easily manage the solution independently without the need for outside or in-house developers. The Portal Connector also provided daily Q&A sessions if anyone had any questions on using the portal.

These daily sessions were beneficial for the team at Tecplot to understand how to use the portal while keeping downtime to a minimum. The support team at The Portal Connector was always available to answer any questions. They also walked through these solutions to ensure everyone was on the same page with each other.

Final Outcome

Tecplot experienced many benefits by using The Portal Connector. For example, CRM users can easily manage the software without the need for any developers to modify settings and make changes. Ultimately, this improves efficiency throughout the entire company. It also results in better customer service.

Account Managers can now easily send out invites to employees or even restrict access to certain areas. This simple feature has reduced the number of unwanted or invalid user records. The number of user records has been significantly lower. Its results have more reliable data and information.

The web portal produces real-time data as Dynamics CRM creates it. Before, all of this information was not available in real-time. It wasn’t stored internally for the users. These changes have significantly enhanced the user experience.

Using the Sitefinity Content Management System makes it possible for Tecplot to easily manage all of its digital assets and online content without the need for technical expertise.

Implementing The Portal connector was one of the best investments for offering ongoing technical support and future improvements. It was also very cost-effective. The marketing team can easily manage the portal while allowing the development team to spend more time increasing each product’s value for customers.
