Highlights

00:08 — This episode is brought to you by the Cloud Wars Expo. This in-person event will be held June 28th to 30th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

00:27 — Many people rely on prosthetics, whether it’s for daily activities or performing extreme feats of athleticism. The next evolution of prosthetics is adding AI to the mix.

00:48 — At the University of Minnesota, a team has found a way to use an AI decoder that learns the user’s intentions based on nerve signals. They’re presenting a neuroprosthetic system to demonstrate this principle by employing an AI agent to translate the user’s movement intent.

01:15 — The goal behind this initiative is to enable intuitive processes and control purely by thought—human to computer connection.

01:50 — The next iteration that’s currently being developed is tactile interactions, which is having the prosthetic actually feel what the user is touching or holding.

02:12 — The natural evolution of this technology is truly going to help people around the world. However, this can turn into a human intent-enhancing technology that could result in unfairness, such as with athletics, work performance, or other areas.

02:37 — This is another area that should have decentralized governance in place to ensure the technology is really used to better humans in a positive way.
