Highlights
00:09 — This episode is brought to you by the Cloud Wars Expo. This in-person event will be held June 28th to 30th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.
00:30 — Security has become increasingly important with AI for uses such as threat detection, mitigation, and proactively hardening cybersecurity defenses. Recently, DCSA (Defense, Counterintelligence, and Security Agency) selected C3 AI as part of its digital transformation efforts, more specifically, for security clearances and background investigation inventory.
01:17 — DCSA runs 2 million background investigations each year across 12,500 facilities as well as 105 departments and agencies.
01:30 — In December 2021, C3 AI announced that it was selected by the Department of Defense for simulation and modeling toward developing and deploying systems to counter cyber threats.
01:48 — Why is AI being deployed on the frontlines of security?
02:12 — Approximately 11% of all cyberattacks are espionage-related. In 2020, the US government increased its cybersecurity budget to $17.4 billion. In 2021, cyberattacks hit an all-time high—the average being 925 attacks per week, per organization.
2:53 — With such a high volume of attacks, AI has become a necessary security tool. One benefit of the high number of attacks is that AI can learn from the attacks and develop a more robust defense mechanism.
03:31 — Cybersecurity needs to be across the entire foundation of your organization and part of your governance model. By using AI, organizations can be proactive with their cybersecurity rather than reactive to attacks.
